Not Exactly Baskets

In addition to traditional basketry, I like to play around with other things. I used to be an ostrich farmer, and did some things with eggs. I have a friend who is a potter, and I did a basketry top on one of her pots. I recently discovered gourds.

My first gourds

My first gourds were done in Florida, in a class at the Pioneer Settlement for the Creative Arts, and at the Stephen Foster State Folk Culture Center.

African shekerie, musical instrument. My first attempt at knotless netting... I didn't know you put a knot under each bead - so why is it called 'knotless'?
